Hi there folks I hope that this blog update finds you all happy and healthy.

The saying ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ is no understatement as the past few weeks have come and gone so quickly that it feels like only yesterday I was fully immersed in the build up to the Birdfair (Aug 19th – 21st). I’m glad to say that the weeks of planning and preparation, not to mention the monetary investment applied to this year’s Birdfair, paid off with ‘Birdfair 2016’ being my best year yet 🙂

Like many exhibitors there the weekend is always an intense but fun-filled three days, precious moments interacting with customers new and old (no not age related lol), catching up with fellow exhibitors and networking.

Amongst my sales for the weekend:

Whilst interacting with the public, whether that be sales, enquiries or networking I like to find time to demonstrate too, and this year’s demonstration sketch was:

This will hopefully at some point this year evolve into a painting, updates coming soon.

The highlight of the Birdfair for me this year was being asked to create a commission for a certain celebretory – more news on this when I have permission to share 🙂

More News!!!  On Monday 11th July I was invited into Knowsley Safari Park, Cheshire for a meeting with the head of estates and the visitor services manager.  The meeting turned out to be a successful brain storming event regarding my ideas on setting up an art based dimension to Knowsley Safari Park.  My next meeting is scheduled for Monday 10th October – so more news on this exciting adventure to follow …

Back to the here and now and not wanting to waffle on too long as to bore you:

*  All of this year’s workshops have now sold out!  However my ‘Wildlife 2017 Workshop‘ dates have now gone live on my website, please see the ‘Workshops’ page of my website for more details and to book your place:

*  This coming Saturday (1st Oct) I’ll be exhibiting and demonstrating at  The Widnes Library, Victoria Road, Widnes, Cheshire  WA8 7QT  10am – 2:30pm by kind invitation of Helen Osborne (Area Manager of Widnes Libraries) as part of a Community & Culture day – the first of it’s kind in Widnes!  If you’re nearby and have some time to spare then please drop by and say hello 🙂

Okay I’ll leave it at that for today as I’ve a commission to finish that has already been on my easel way too long:

Well it’s that time of year again … Just three weeks to go to the biggest event & exhibition in my diary each year – The Birdfair  Friday 19th – Sunday 21st August!

If you love wildlife and haven’t been before you really are missing a wonderful weekend of events – there are art marquees, photography marquees, optics marquees (binoculars, scopes, cameras, lenses etc) where you will find stands hosted by the world’s leading companies in their field i.e. Canon & Nikon to name just a couple.  There are lecture marquees where you can listen and meet amazing naturalists/conservationists such as Simon King, Chris Packham and Jonathon Scott etc. There’s something for everyone – bug hunts for the youngsters and young at heart, country crafts, bird ringing where you can hold and release ringed birds.  There’s a large range of food in the catering marquee and even a well stocked bar!  So much to see and do.  And if this hasn’t wet your appetite then check out their website for even more news on the events that will be happening over the weekend.

And of course if you do attend then please come over and say hi, I’ll be in my usual spot – Stand 20 in the Art Marquee!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon xXx

After being well and truly in ‘the zone’ the past two days (please don’t ask how much coffee it involved lol) my latest commissions are now sketched out and ready for stage 2 – the backgrounds!

These three labrador commissions are all for the same client, I’m going to be working them simultaneously to maintain a continuity in the backgrounds thus enabling them to be hanged as a tryptic or separately upon completion.
